Poor little Cyannah looked like a homeless child.
She was fast asleep despite the rain, wind and the fact that she was soaking wet.
So sad, but adorable!

Jay's cousin, Tyler Maxson (Blackbeard), and his wife, Linsey (Mary), were the leads in Rob Gardner's "Blackbeard the Musical" at MCC this summer. They did a great job, but we enjoyed them both more in The Scarlet Pimpernel at Hale Theatre. This was Tyler's last performance until he is finished with his Doctorate in Psychiatry. Great job guys! We love you!!!
Scary make-up Tyler!

Rachel having a show with her "Wicked" crew!

I love how Uncle Willie just goes along with the girls!
Rachel stayed home from church a few weeks ago. She wasn't feeling well.
The girls' masterpiece - the Queen Giraffe!

Jay's happy welding face!
He was welding a new hitch thingy onto the boom truck.
Cody Langston stayed with us while his family went on vacation for two weeks.
Dude is worn out trying to keep up with hyper Cody.
(Notice Shiloh doesn't even try to keep up.)

Gross - look at his sweaty shirt! I am really glad he chose NOT to be a full time welder.
He really is cute though!

This is our third puppy, Rachel.
Sometimes she slips into this mode and refuses to be a little girl.
She won't speak other than "Ruff-ruff".
Isn't she adorable?
I didn't get into the tootsie rolls! It was Jayne!!!
Always stylish!

"Tragic Skittles Man"
I think this is HYSTERICAL!!! :-)

Yes, that's my SEXY leg!
This is my new knee brace. It's for patellar-femoral dysfunction. It is so comfortable and lightweight. I can even swim with it on.
Great improvement over the gigantic bionic woman brace!

I was not happy to stumble upon this scene. The girls had helped me separate coins the day before and we had a Ziploc bag full of pennies left. I walked into the living room to find them dancing and singing "It's raining pennies!" as they threw them into the air.

This is classic in our home.
Jayne is the Princess riding in her carriage and Rachel is the driver.

I received this email from Jessie this week and realized that I have a major blogging addiction...

"Hey! Is my computer being stupid, or have you really not posted anything on your blog since July 18th? That doesn't seem like you. Are you okay? Do you need me to do anything? If it is my computer, then I wonder what the problem is and how I can fix it."

No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Everything is ok, just crazy busy! So I have finally downloaded a ton of pics from the last few weeks and I hope to post them along with some crazy adventures as soon as I can (probably not until Monday).

Keep checking Katie's blog. I will be adding some more letters this weekend. She is doing great! Still in the MTC until the 31st.

I am going to bed now...

Heather Ives just posted some of our pics from our family photo shoot a couple of weeks ago. Check it out!!! Her link is on the right side "Heather Ives Photography". :-)

We took Nina with us to CRS (Children's Rehabilitative Services) last Friday for Jayne's Occupational Therapy. Rachel was crazy the whole time. Nina watched T.C. use the E-Stim unit on Jayne. It was great!

I just got these videos from Katie's camera. We had so much fun!

My mom's wild duck came back to their pool to hatch more ducklings. There were about 7 this time. They were crazy little things. They weren't timid like the last batch. They would let you get a few feet away and watch their water sports. That's right. They would take turns riding on their mom's back and do tricks. I am not joking. It was like watching the duckling X-Games. They only stayed for two days.
This is a pic Katie took of them before she rescued them from the trap in the pool.

So I have a ton of pics to post for the last week or so, but first I thought I would share a funny story first...

It really wasn't funny at the time, but now looking back a day later I can see the humor in it. I took Rachel to the doctor for a Urinary Tract Infection and a bad yeast infection. Well, you know the drill. I figured it would be so simple. We would walk in, she would have to pee right away because she is going every 5-10 minutes, I would ask for the little sterile cup, we would go into the bathroom, she would pee in the cup and we would be done. Well, to a three year old little girl the little sterile cup is Satan. Everything went as planned at first. We walked in the door, signed in, sat down and withing two minutes she told me she had to pee. I took her into the bathroom, the nurse gave us the cup and I took her flops and panties off, I made her sit really far back on the seat, then I put the cup under her. You would have thought I was holding a gun to her. She went insane. She wouldn't let a drop come out. I could tell she was in pain holding it in, but she wasn't giving in and either was I. We went into the room and Dr. Barnett came in and checked her. She told Rachel she couldn't leave until she peed in the cup. I turned to Rachel and said, "OK kid, what's it going to take? A Dora book?" She said yes to the book, but no to the cup. She told me, "Mommy, when people pee in a cup that's not right. When little girls pee they are suppose to pee in the toilet!" This went on and on for about fifteen minutes. I finally bribed her with gum to drink half of my water bottle. I figured that would seal the deal. Well, at this point she hadn't gone to the bathroom in almost 45 minutes. She was dying. I told her we would just go into the bathroom and I wouldn't use the cup. I lied. I don't care. It was worth it. I had to get to PT and we were not running on schedule. Yes, I am justifying my actions, but I don't care. Anyway. I told her that if she wrapped her dress up and over her shoulders and around her arms she looked like a king with his robe. She thought that was awesome and didn't realize that she couldn't move her arms. I took her panties and flops off again. I took her into the bathroom in the exam room (her pediatrician just bought an OB's office). I sat her on the toilet seat and hid the cup behind my back. As soon as she started I shot that cup under her. She couldn't move so she just started screaming bloody murder and stopped peeing IMEDIATELY. I only got a tiny bit in the cup. As soon as I got her to quit SCREAMING I took the cup out into the hall and said, "This better be enough because it's all we're getting out of her!"
They tested it and came in with a Rx for antibiotics and stronger cream for the yeast infection. They sent it out for further testing, but she was pretty positive it's an UTI. So now we have to force nasty meds down her and put gross cream on her, but we will get through this.

It really is amusing looking back. I didn't think it was funny yesterday, especially when we finally got out of the appointment and I called my mom to tell her how it went. All she said was, "I couldn't believe you thought it would be that simple. She is three years old." She laughed and I just felt stupid. Well, I've learned my lesson.

So here's to all those mom's with three year olds who have their own agenda and views on the world! Good luck to you!!!

Today was insane and I have some pretty funny stories about Rachel's doctor's appointment, but I will save those for tomorrow.
Tonight I just want to focus on the beautiful weather. The monsoons have finally decided to show a little and it is wonderful. It was 113 degrees today and very humid, but going out into the "rain" and feeling those drops sprinkle down on my face tonight made it all worth it! I love the smell of the monsoon rain. It is so different from any other rain. I think it's God's way of telling us he loves us. After all, without rain we would definitely feel like we live in Pergatory!
Hooray for lightning lighting up the murky sky! Hooray for thunder that shakes away the heat. Hooray for raindrops that give hope to our starving trees. Hooray for Arizona when the Monsoons arrive!

Poor little Rachel is not doing so well. She has a yeast infection and I am pretty sure she has a bladder infection too. She gets yeast infections a lot so we have Nystatin on hand, but I need to take her in tomorrow to get her on antibiotics for the bladder infection. She has had a low fever off and on for a few days and is just miserable.

My knee is not doing well either. I took Lortab again last night. I really don't like narcotics, but I really needed to relieve the pain. It made me so loopy, but I couldn't feel my knee all night so it was a good thing.

Rachel and I are both home from church today. She is finally calmed down and watching a movie. Having a sick kid is hard, especially when you feel terrible yourself. These are the days when being a mom isn't so fun. I do know it's worth it though!

OK, enough complaining. At least I am able to rest and try to get some energy back. I have been dragging all week long.

My parents are back in town so it's nice to get some help with the girls. Jayne slept over there last night. She needed some "Mimi time". Papa took the girls swimming last night too. They are so happy to have him home!

Have a great Sunday! :-)

So I am absolutely in LOVE with KMLE Country 108 this summer!
First, Big Shoe Stu took us backstage to meet the Wreckers at the Keith Urban concert.
Then today I was listening and it was that time again... a giveaway to the 8th caller. I have KMLE on speed dial, but I always get a busy signal when I call. I dialed, it rang and I almost wet my pants with excitement! At first I didn't even know exactly what I was calling for.
I was a total fool... screaming like a girl and everything. It was delayed so I called Jay while I was on hold and told him to listen. Jayne thought it was so cool.

I won the following DVD's:

They kept saying "Beauty and the Beast 2" so I thought there must be a new Disney Beauty and the Beast sequel out that I didn't know about. I said "Great, my little girls will love that!"
Yeah, I feel stupid now. Good news is that this set is worth $45 bucks so I can exchange it at Best Buy for a kids movie since I already told Jayne we were getting the Disney version. Oops! Her birthday is this month and she has wanted Cinderella III since it came out so maybe will get it instead. We shall see!
I am happy today! Woohoo!!! :-)

I have shared a REALLY funny story on Katie's missionary blog so click on her link under "friends and family" and you'll see what funny kids I have!
Well the day has finally arrived!
I shed my brace for the last time at therapy today!!!
The thing I am most excited about is not having to sleep with it on. My poor right leg is so bruised from it. I can also wear anything now... if I want to. I am really into basketball shorts again - mostly because it is SO HOT HERE! We'll see.
Such a wonderful day!
Tomorrow will be 10 weeks since the surgery. It's amazing what progress has been made. Still more work to do, but my new brace comes tomorrow and I am really excited to be able to really exercise again with it on.
Hooray!
Well, we watched Dyan's dog for her while they were in San Diego last week and Shiloh was so happy the whole time. She has been so lonely and we just haven't been able to play with her as much because of the heat.
Jay and I decided to get another small dog this fall. We were looking at "toy dogs" but they all look like rats or like little puff balls. I hated them all! We realized that since the word "FREE" was really the most important part of the search we would probably end up with some little mutt. Anyway, we did agree that our favorite mid-size dog is a beagle.
Once again the tender mercies of the Lord have been shown to our family! Jay went to work on Friday and mentioned to a co-worker that I had agreed to get a second dog finally (Jay's been trying to convince me for a few months). Tom told Jay that he has a really old beagle and he bought a purebread beagle puppy to give his dog someone to play with. They have fought since day one bacause the puppy is so hyper. He has wanted to get rid of it, but his wife wanted it to go to a good home with children who would love him.
Jay picked up Dude on Monday night. We didn't tell the girls until he pulled into the driveway. They are so happy! Shiloh and Dude get along great!
(His name is Dude because Tom took him to Petsmart when he first got him and as soon as he put him in the cart he had a huge accident. Tom said, "Dude, why did you do that?" and the name stuck.)
Shiloh is a year old now and we think she is about as big as she will get.
She is a mix of St. Bernard, Black Lab, Heeler and Basset Hound.
Dude is 100% beagle. He is 9 months old.
We are happy to have him as part of our family!

Aren't they cute?
We feed the dogs through this window. The Jeep hardtop keeps the food dry when it rains.

Jay wanted me to take some pics of the girls with the dogs for the family who gave us Dude. (Tom's wife didn't get to say goodbye so Jay thought a picture of the happy family with Dude would help.) This was quite the experience!

Dude doesn't sit - ever - he is very hyper!
Shiloh and Jayne cooperating
Puppy kisses!
More kisses!

Does anyone know what type of plant this is?
It's in the Walmart parking lot. Weird huh?

Hi everyone! I just changed the settings so ANYONE can leave comments. You do not have to have a blogger account. :-)
This is something I would usually post on my anonymous medical blog, but I am too lazy to log in to it right now so I am going to share it here. If you don't want to read it just skip ahead. I want you to know up front that I do not intend in any way to appear negative. If I am sarcastic it's just the way I am. I will try to present myself in a more positive way.
With that said...
I went to the endocrinologist today. It's actually been a few months since I have been in doctors appointments every week. It's been a nice break! Anyway, I always take my "medical binder" with me to appointments. I keep my medical records (the most recent at least) and a list of questions for that appointment in the binder. Today I was brave and just didn't take it. That's right. I left it at home. When I got home I pulled the binder out to file my latest labs away and I saw the quote that I keep on the front:

"For a long time it seemed to me that real life was about to begin, but there was always some obstacle in the way. Something had to be got through first, some unfinished business; time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."
- Bette Howland

When I first read this quote a year and a half ago I was in the middle of a huge breakdown: physically, emotionally and mentally. This has really helped me keep my chin up and try to find the good in each situation. I was amazed at the feelings I had when I read it today. I finally really believe that these obstacles are my life, but I don't look at them as obstacles anymore. They really are blessings. They are opportunities for the tender mercies of the Lord to be shown in my life. I am so grateful for the good health I have received. Yes, there are still so many unanswered questions that I hope to someday find answers to, but for now I am happy getting the help I have received. I have the best doctors and therapists in the world! They are all committed to helping me heal in any way possible. That is a great feeling. I love studying medicine and I cannot wait to have my shoulder surgery and hopefully get back in school so I can start helping others.

I guess that's enough babbling today. It's just nice to look back and see how much my life has been blessed! So many of those blessings come to me because of your friendship. Thank you!!!

Sometimes Sunday family dinners get a little crazy!

So the past two weeks have flown by and I have about 150 pictures to share so just be patient and enjoy…
Here’s a quick description of what’s happened this past week:

Last Monday (the 2nd):
I started the day having blood drawn and going to PT. What a way to start a LONG day!
Jo took the girls swimming while I was at therapy.
Kristin McPhie cut our hair and did an incredible job!!!
We went to the temple at 5:30 pm when it was only 111 degrees to have family portraits taken. We had the best experience we have EVER had! The pictures will be posted in a few weeks. I can’t wait to share them.
We went to Julio Too’s for dinner with Katie, ONE LAST TIME!

Tuesday:
We went to our weekly Cinemark kids club movie. This week was “Over the Hedge”. We had a great time with Jo Alldredge and her two sister-in-laws, Dani and Kristi.
Kendra and Kimber came over to play.
We went swimming at my parent’s house.
Jay put in my mom’s carport cover.
My girls slept over at Mimi’s! Yeah!
I went grocery shopping at 10:30 pm while Jay went with Damien and Cam to see Transformers.

Wednesday:
We had a great 4th!
Jay started the day helping the Scouts put up all of the flags. He had to wake up before 6am which wasn’t fun because he CHOSE to go to a LATE movie and didn’t get home until 2:30am.
We had a barbecue at my parent’s house with the Jacksons, Whisenants, Budges and all of us! We went swimming and had a great time even though it was 116 degrees. We taught Melinda how to play Guitar Hero (the pics are great).

We hung out all afternoon then went swimming again at night. We watched the fireworks from my dad’s driveway in our swimsuits. It was fun!

Thursday:
Jayne had Pool Therapy with her Physical Therapist Melissa in my mom’s pool. Jayne is doing a fabulous job learning how to swim and use her left arm!
Thursday night Katie was set apart as a missionary by President Ahlstrom. It was a fantastic experience.

Friday:
OUR 6th ANNIVERSARY!!!
Jayne had make-up OT then she and Rachel went swimming with Jo while I went to PT.
We hung out with Cam and Willie (my parents and Sara took Katie to Provo early in the morning) and watched a “What Not to Wear” marathon. Jayne was SOOOO into it. It made me laugh. She really believed she was changing lives by watching the show. Good thing we don’t have cable at our house!
Jessie (Katie’s best friend) watched the girls while we went out for our anniversary.
We went out with Damien and Kalet Budge to dinner at Bellagio’s Pizzeria (Greenfield & McKellips). It is one of our favorite restaurant’s. They serve Mediteranian and Italian food.
Then we went to see “License to Wed” and we tried out Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt afterward.
It was such a fabulous evening!

Saturday:
We did a lot, but I was fighting a migraine from Friday night on so I don’t really remember a whole lot. We took Shiloh to get groomed for the first time. Rachel totally freaked out when we left because she thought we were leaving Shiloh forever. We ran errands together. We went to WalMart and bought the girls lifejackets because we are going to go canoing down the river with the Budge’s in a few weeks. We are also going to start going to the lake with them. We wanted to make sure the girls would keep the jackets on so we made them wear them through the store the whole time. I thought they looked cute, and somewhat ridiculous, but they really pulled the look off. The funniest part was the huge tag hanging in the front.

Sunday:
We went to church and went to my parent’s house as usual. Cam had helped make dinner in the crock pot so we got dinner ready and ate. There were only six of us (as opposed to 13-14 that are usually there) so it was really quiet and weird. We had a great time. Cam was so cute. He had planned games for us to play. We stayed really late playing “Imagine If”. Jessie came over and Josh and Dyan came over as soon as they got back from California. I love my family!!!

Today is just the same old craziness. PT, swimming, cleaning, etc. I will be glad to have a small break in PT before my next surgery. I sure do love going there and working hard with people that I really do love (I know that may sound weird, but I’ve been going for fifteen months now). They are wonderful friends and it is an important part of my life. It takes time though. Ahhh, at least I have found some time to blog today. Hopefully I can get it all done…
Josh and Dyan bought the girls some cool Chinese purses in Old Town San Diego!

Rachel's new favorite phrase is
"You're the bestest Jessie ever!"

On Saturday we spent the afternoon together as a family.
We bought lifejackets for the girls - we made them wear them to make sure they fit.
Too bad this wasn't in Rachel's size!
Sportsman's has Shopper in Training Carts

Shiloh finally got groomed for her first time!
Here's before:

And AFTER!

Doesn't she look fabulous?!!!
